The Provincial Court of British Columbia deals with three types of tickets: Provincial Violation Tickets for offences under B.

laws, including traffic offences under the Motor Vehicle Act and regulations, and offences under the Liquor Control and Licensing Act. The Supreme Court is the superior trial court for the province and hears both civil and criminal cases, as well as some appeals from the Provincial Court.

The Provincial Court is the first level of trial court in British Columbia and hears criminal, criminal youth, family. Provincial violation tickets are traffic tickets issued for offences such as running a red light or driving without insurance offences under the Motor Vehicle Act and Regulations.

Provincial tickets can also be issued for offences under the following provincial legislation: Commercial Transport Act.     The Supreme Court of British Columbia is the province's superior trial court. The Supreme Court is a court of general and inherent jurisdiction which means that it can hear any type of case, civil or criminal.

It hears most appeals from the Provincial Court in civil and criminal cases and appeals from arbitrations. Further to my post yesterday discussing this topic another case was released today by the BC Supreme Court discussing the jurisdiction of the British Columbia Courts in relation to out of province motor vehicle collision tort claims.
